We recognized a desire in the Lebanese community in America to connect with other Lebanese-Americans, and founded the Lebanese in America directory to meet this need. Lebanese in America is a fully featured directory, and anyone can submit their business to the directory.

Dear Lebanese Friends and Associates,
I write to you to announce my most recent project. As many of you know, in 2006 I founded Cedar News, a publication dedicated to news and events important to the Middle East, particularly my home country of Lebanon. For the past few years I have been very active in the Lebanese-American community, especially those in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. While Cedar News is read by a wide audience of people from the Middle East, I am particularly interested in engaging my fellow Lebanese countrymen. Even if I currently live in New York, the current events of Lebanon still impact me very deeply, and I know that many other Lebanese living abroad feel the same.
This desire to maintain a sense of community abroad is the inspiration for my new project, LebaneseInAmerica.com. Lebanese in America is an online directory of people of Lebanese descent living and working in America, organized by profession. The idea came to me one day while I was waiting in line at an Arabic goods store in Brooklyn. I overheard one person in line say that they had come all the way from Boston to shop in Brooklyn. When someone asked why, they replied that in Boston the only Middle Eastern stores were Lebanese; they were not Lebanese themselves, and to get products from their home country they had to travel to Brooklyn. As a recent arrival to the United States myself, I can identify with this desire to find the familiar, no matter the cost. The goal of my Lebanese in America directory is to help Lebanese people find other Lebanese people and businesses, whether it’s to find a book from their favorite Lebanese writer, a Lebanese doctor or lawyer, or a hard to find Lebanese food product.
Of course, this directory will only be as strong as those who use it. If you are a professional, or own a business, you can submit a listing. And I hope all of you will take a look at what I have done so far, and let me know how it could be improved to meet your needs. You will be able to see my current categories for ordering people and businesses. Please let me know if there are any other categories you feel would be helpful.
